Kaliro Gets Solar Power Innovation Exhibition

 Kaliro Town Council is to host an environment friendly exhibition of new solar powered innovations for saving the environment through controlling excessive use of wood charcoal.

The three-day exhibition code-name ‘Busoga Olwekobano and Energy Expo 2024’ Yaife is opening on December 5th at Kaliro Town Green Belt and Park Yard was organised by Dr. Charles Mbalyohere, a Senior Lecturer at the Open University in England, under the auspices of Busoga Yaife, a non-governmental organisation charged with saving the deteriorating environment from total destruction.

Mbalyohere, who is the President of Busoga Yaife, told the press briefing he held ahead of the beginning of the exhibition, blamed humans for carrying out devastating activities against the environment, and that it is the reason he partnered with Bulamogi chiefdom and other partners to organize the expo.

He said various companies will showcase their respective solar energy innovations in farming, cooking and storage of the products which are environment friendly. He said among activities to be carried out will be mobilising communities to switch to use of bio gas, using solar powered irrigation systems and other systems of saving the environment.

He said that the innovations are critical at this time when people have been dying in hospitals when medicines go bad due to incessant blackouts, which situation will be now saved by introduction of solar powered fridges. He said the camp will also include a free medical camp.

The prime minister Bulamogi chiefdom Eric Kihuluka said that they will teach the participants how to make herbs for treating various illnesses. He added that they will also sensitize them on how to make unique food from various plants which people are not aware of.

He appealed to residents in the area to embrace the exhibition for the good of conserving the environment and improving household incomes.
