President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Thursday appointed the new Deputy Chief Justice, Justice of the Supreme Court, eight Justices of the Court of Appeal and 21 Judges of the High Court in acting capacity into the Judiciary Service for a period of two years from the date of assumption of duty.
In the same vein, following the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against her, Lady Justice Bukirwa Faridah Shamilah has been re-appointed as acting Judge of the High Court, the capacity she is to hold for a period of one year.
The appointments which are in line with the expanded structure of the judiciary, were part of the last activities conducted by the 6th Judicial Service Commission, led by Hon. Justice Benjamin I. Kabiito whose term of office expired on the 21st of January 2025.
Justice Zeija Flavian is the newly appointed Deputy Chief Justice, Justice Muzamir Mutangula Kibeedi is the justice of the Supreme Court. The eight appointed justices of the Court of appeal include Ketra Kitariisihwa Katunguka, Sabiiti Cornelia Kakooza, Stella Aliabteese, Florence Nakacwa, Byarihanga Jesse Rugyema, Musisi John Mike, Sekaana Musa and Nambayo Esta.
Those appointed as Acting Judges of the High Court for a period of two years include Sarah Langa Siu, Rosemary Bareebe Ngabirano, Mary Babirye, Lillian Alum Omara, Charles Kasibayo, Mary Kaitesi Kisakya, Susan Odongo, Karoli Lwanga Ssemogerere, Joanita Gertrude Bushara and Simon Peter Kinobe Mutegeki.
Others are Vincent Opyene, Sarah Birungi Kalibbala, Isaac Teko Bony, Deepa Verma, Flavia Grace Lamuno, Fatuma Nanziri Bwanika, Kwemara Kafuuzi Gelase, Godfrey Himbaza, Andrew Khaukha, Dr. Ginamia Melody Ngwatu and Ida Nakiganda.
