The Electoral Commission has declared Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North by-election.
Nalukoola has garnered 17,764 votes followed by NRM’s Faridah Nambi with 8,593, Mulerwa Hanifah Karadi, independent 381, Luwemba Lusswa Muhammad 240 and FDC’s Sadat Mukiibi a.k.a Khalifah Aganaga 239.
Others are; Muhamood Mutazindwa Independent, 186, Kasacca Henry Mubiru, DP, 100, Ismail Musiitwa, PPP, 39, Moses Nsereko, independent, 32 and Engena-Maitum Edward, independent, 22.

Nalukoola’s victory has been declared by the returning officer for Kampala City, Henry Makabayi at Makerere University School of Public Health Auditorium at 12:30am.
The by-election has been marred by a lot of violence conducted by different security forces that include JATT, SFC, UPDF and Police on the NUP’s candidate Nalukoola, his supporters and journalists.
On the election day, a number of journalists from different media houses have been severely beaten by hooded UPDF armed officers, their gadgets destroyed and some of them whisked away in famous drone cars.
The affected journalists include some from NTV, NBS, Spark TV, Bukedde FM, New Vision, Salt TV, among others.
