Just hours after the Electoral Commission (EC) had gazetted National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Kawempe North by-election winner, Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola, the NRM’s candidate, Faridah Nambi has filed a petition at the EC demanding for vote recount.

We have been instructed by the applicant (Nambi Faridah Kigongo) who was a candidate in the just concluded (13th/3/2025) Kawempe North Constituency by-election.
Nambi Faridah Kigongo has instructed us to file an application for a vote recount which we have filed. The application it is MC No. 22/2025. Please find attached a copy for your reference.
