The ground has been leveled for the two opposition giants, People’s Front for Freedom’s (PFF) Erias Lukwago and the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo to battle for Kampala’s supremacy, the Lord Mayorship.

Just like Balimwezo who was declared the official flag bearer for NUP, PFF has also unveiled Lukwago today and he is just fresh and ready to face off with any obstacle that is likely to obstruct him from retaining the seat.

Balimwezo willingly gave up on the bid to retain his Nakawa East MP seat and decided to lower the seat belt to get into the office of the Kampala Lord Mayor and given the people’s power which he says is behind him, he believes there is nothing which will deter him from fulfilling his dream.

The rule of law man, Lukwago, who switched the party from Forum for Democratic Change (DFC) to PFF believes he has done it all, despite a few obstacles always put across on his way by the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

The last task Lukwago is currently undertaking is the struggle to block the State-backed city tycoon, Hamis Kiggundu from constructing shopping malls on the Nakivubo channel which he says is a time bomb for the Kampala dwellers and the whole country at large.

Also in 2021, Lukwago tasseled out with NUP’s Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala but he managed to emerge victorious at the end of the day.

NRM is also not seated;

KampoalaNRM’s Moses Kizito Nsubuga, flag bearer Kampala mayoral race.

As the opposition parties are strategically looking into their houses and fronting the best candidates for the post, the ruling NRM party is also busy looking for the best contender.

Earlier from the party primaries, Mahad Kaweesa had won the card for Kampala mayoral race, however, today, he has been dropped on grounds of lacking the minimum required education qualifications.

The party has therefore granted the card to Moses Kizito Nsubuga. This move followed Nsubuga’s petition to the NRM tribunal and he registered victory.
