Nigeria’s Niger State has ordered preachers to submit their sermons for approval before delivering them.
State Governor Umar Bago says the move is meant to curb inciting messages and protect public peace, not restrict evangelism.
Earlier this month, the state introduced a law requiring all preachers to obtain licenses within two months through screening and certification before preaching publicly.
The directive excludes Christians. Some Islamic scholars have condemned the policy as a violation of religious freedom, arguing that only those who incite violence should be penalized. #DWAfrica
