The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has cleared the air over the circulating poster on social media alleging that she intends to contest for president of Uganda in the forthcoming general elections in 2026.

In a press release issued and signed by Bishop Samuel, the Press Secretary to the First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister for EAC Affairs, these are false allegations intended to mislead the public.

“This information is entirely false and the work of unscrupulous and ill-mannered individuals who are deliberately spreading fake news to mislead the public. Rt. Hon. Kadaga wishes to categorically state that she has no intention to stand for President in the forthcoming elections. She is only offering herself for re-election as Woman Member of Parliament for Kamuli District,” the press release reads in part.

Bishop has therefore advised the public to treat any claims or posters suggesting otherwise with the contempt they deserve.

“We urge members of the public and the media to rely on official communication from this office regarding the political aspirations of Rt. Hon. Kadaga,” he said.
