Police Arrest 29 NUP Supporters Enroute to Busujju for Kyagulanyi’s Presidential Rally

Onyango urged all presidential candidates to comply with traffic regulations, follow approved route plans, and respect the rights of other road users.

At least 29 supporters of the National Unity Platform presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu have been arrested by police today.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the suspects were arrested as they disrupted the traffic flow and incited unrest by blocking roads.

“Today 06 October 2025, presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert planned to travel to Mityana district for his presidential rally. He was expected to take the Mityana highway but chose to use Hoima Road. A joint security deployment was arranged to facilitate the candidate’s movement,” Onyango said in a statement.

He added; “At Bujjuko trading centre along the Mityana highway, a group of NUP supporters gathered, drumming, whistling, and blocking the road, disrupting traffic flow and inciting unrest by blocking roads. Security personnel issued warnings, but the group persisted, leading to the arrest of about 29 suspects who are currently held at Wakiso police division.”
