After replacement of Beti Olive Namisango Kamya as Inspector of Government (IG) by Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala, internal sources have started leaking indicating that her displacement could have been a result of her high handedness culminating into, at one point, an order to arrest a registrar of titles Baker Mugaino without seeking clarification from the appointing authority, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

It is alleged that it has been Kamya’s habit to conduct business in a manner deemed to be interference in court investigations especially in high level corruption cases.

It is also stated that for the over four years she has been in office, tension has risen to unprecedented levels both within and outside the agency, with a poor working relationship with her deputies, leading to paralyzing smooth operations.

In what could be seen as a back up to the foregoing claims, Kamya in October 2022 developed loggerheads with the chairperson of the Uganda Land Commission Beatrice Byenkya, and that it called for the intervention of the President to iron out the bad blood between the two.

Kamya entered office on a wrong note, swearing to root out corruption beginning with very high officials, but was cautioned by President Museveni to move cautiously to avoid creating a leeway for some thieves to transfer their loot and bank it outside the country.

Sources also indicate that Kamya has had the tendency of revisiting concluded cases and, in the process, stepping on the feet of some people, who have in turn been swearing to see her out of office at the slightest instigation. Her deputies, Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria and Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe were retained in their slots.
