The Minister for Local Government Raphael Magyezi has thanked Mukono Municipal Council for excelling in implementation of the World Bank-funded Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA) road project which is being undertaken in Mukono, Wakiso, Mpigi and Kampala, and added that it is a reflection of observance of good tax response.
He was on Thursday 6th November 2025 commissioning a partially completed sh1.3bn Mukono Municipal Council administration block constructed with funds from locally generated funds (sh500m) and central government funding (sh800m).

Magyezi noted that with a bigger office area, the picture of Mukono Municipality is now coming out more vividly, and implored staff to use it for the benefit of communities through service delivery improvement and uplifting their social standards.
He guided that if the physical development planned is stuck to, with people blocked from constructing in road reserves, the direction expected to be extracted from it will be realized, and the task of transforming Mukono into an agreeable city will become a reality with time.

On government poverty intervention, Byabagambi disclosed that close to sh700m supporting various production activities, while 2,665 beneficiaries have received a total of sh2.478bn under the parish development model (PDM), noting that government’s commitments are not limited to infrastructure alone but also helping people to get better lifestyles.


The Town Clerk said the municipality’s budget has greatly improved from sh22bn in the 2022/2023 financial year to sh92bn in the 2024/2025 financial year, while local revenue collection rose to sh8.6bn up from sh6.5bn in the same period.
Mukono Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajat Fatuma Ndisaba Nabitaka appealed to political aspirants at various levels to check their worthiness before the communities, and to adequately change and become more valuable if they still have social drawbacks.

Ndisaba thanked the former Mukono Municipality Mayor, George Fred Kagimu and former Town Clerk Richard K. Monday for initiating the project for construction of the building that was being commissioned, and reminded the current TC Byabagambi that he still has a huge obligation to bring it to its completion.
Delivering his homily in a preceding thanksgiving service, the Bishop for Mukono Diocese Enos Kitto Kagodo appealed to aspirants in the forthcoming elections, to endeavour to avoid friction with opponents, and honourably concede defeat when they lose the bid.

Kagodo appealed to municipal workers to strive to work as a team to sustain the successes achieved so far, and strive to be part of the growth registered to avoid being considered irrelevant in society. “Surrender to God everything and he will do your work in return rather than working to please fellow men who will not even appreciate”, the Bishop said.


Mukono Municipality MP, Betty Nambooze Bakireke commended the political leadership at the municipal led by the mayor, Erisa Mukasa Nkoyoyo for giving an enabling environment to the technical people to do their work, saying it’s the reason the Town Clerk unveiled such a project.
“If we had leaders who ask for commission for any project to be done, such projects would not be possible. Therefore I acknowledge Nkoyoyo for being such a good and commendable leader,” she said.
