Walukagga laughed off people claiming he lacks the requisite education to represent the people of Busiro East in parliament, saying on acquisition of the mature age certificate, he immediately proceeded to St. Lawrence University where he is offering a bachelors course in Public Administration and Management.

Busiro East parliamentary aspirant, Mathias Walukagga (NUP) must be smiling ear-to-ear following a declaration from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), which confirmed that he registered with the university under registration number IUCK-ME023FEB-586, sat for the mature entry examinations and passed with 54 percent.
Subsequently, Walukagga was awarded with the Mature Age Certificate which remains valid for two years before expiry, if the holder does not seek further studies in an institution of higher learning.

Earlier this week, a voter had petitioned the electoral commission seeking an order nullifying Walukagga’s bid to contest for Busiro East parliamentary post, in an attempt to oust the sitting MP Medard Sseggona. The petitioner claimed that the mayor had neither the pre-requisite S.6 education nor its equivalent.
The current Kyengera Town Council Mayor, Walukagga is currently pursuing a bachelors’ degree in Public Administration and Management of St. Lawrence University and is in the third year of his course.
Sseggona had himself said that he cannot look on as the constituency is lowered to the level of having semi-literate individuals seeking to represent it in parliament, and seemed intent on having the EC block Walukagga’s plans of unseating him.

Contacted over the matter, Walukagga laughed off people claiming he lacks the requisite education to represent the people of Busiro East in parliament, saying on acquisition of the mature age certificate, he immediately proceeded to St. Lawrence University where he is offering a bachelors course in Public Administration and Management.
Although several contestants are vying for the Busiro East seat, the major battle is between Walukagga, Sseggona and the NRM’s Abdul Kiyimba.
