Entebbe Municipality Principal Education Officer, Joyce Nalubega has urged parents to support their children in acquisition of skills helping them to think critically, to avoid over reliance on computers to do their work for them.
Nalubega blamed parents surrendering their responsibilities to house aides who in turn let the children spend all their time on television with all its negative virtues like pornography, and castigated the tendency of claiming to be too busy for their children.
She cautioned that if they maintain this state of affairs, others will counsel their children with unwanted repercussions.
The Education Officer lamented that parents have spoon fed the children too much to the extent that when they are hungry, the children will go to fast food outlets and supermarkets, instead of learning techniques of turning available foodstuffs like cassava and potatoes into chips to decrease the monotony of eating it straight.

Mukono Municipality Inspector of Schools Esther Nassanga hailed management of St. Francis Namiryango for thinking of what she called a stylish way of showing accountability to parents for the past one year, saying this wards off questions of how the dues they have been paying have been spent.

Nassanga noted that society has moved away from a system where accountability is given through reports because she added, nowadays is the way to go as teaching is shifting towards the competence based and hands-on system.

The school Director Ssemanja Deogratius reported that effective from next year, learners will no longer be required to carry mattresses as the school has reached an arrangement with Rosefoam Mattress Company to supply them with mattresses at a subsidized rate which will be met by the school.
