In a crumbling moment, Minister Diana Mutasingwa, the NRM Woman MP for Buikwe, struggled to translate President Museveni’s speech into Luganda, leaving the crowd in stitches.
The President, speaking in English to cater to the diverse audience, called Mutasingwa, the State Minister in the Office of the Vice President to translate, but she stumbled over words like “minimum wage” and “interest rate”.

Museveni intervened, correcting her and eventually taking over the translation himself. He later called in NRM Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja to “rescue” Mutasingwa, who seemed overwhelmed.
The mishap has sparked questions about Mutasingwa’s preparedness and linguistic skills, with some wondering if she’s up for the job. Is this a sign of trouble for the NRM’s Buikwe stronghold?
