Kyagulanyi Courts Mukono Voters, Pledges Change

Kyagulanyi’s visit to Mukono comes amid stiff competition for Mukono Municipality MP seat, with incumbent Betty Nambooze Bakireke (NUP) facing challenges from fellow party-leaning candidates Rev. Dr. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa and Hanifah Nabukeera.

Thousands of supporters turned out to show their love for National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, as he campaigned in Mukono district.

Kyagulanyi expressed solidarity with supporters who have been arrested and urged them to stay hopeful, saying their long-awaited day of change is near.

“Our long suffering will come to an end on Thursday, January 15, 2026 as you turn-up in big numbers to vote for change,” Kyagulanyi said.

He warned locals about NUP-leaning independent candidates with hidden agendas, allegedly funded by the ruling NRM party.

He reiterated his commitment to addressing pressing issues like land wrangles and economic struggles, promising a brighter future for Ugandans.

The NUP leader’s visit to Mukono is part of a broader effort to mobilize support ahead of the January 15, 2026, general elections. His message of change and unity has resonated with many, particularly young voters and those disillusioned with the current government.

Mukono is a key battleground, with several high-profile candidates vying for seats. The district’s electoral outcome could influence the broader national result, making Kyagulanyi’s campaign stop significant.

According to electoral commission, Mukono district has got over 450,000 registered voters, most of these are youths who are going to get their first chance of participating into a national election.
