Fr. Ssewava’s death comes as a loss to the Kiwatule Parish community, where he had been serving, as well as the wider Kampala Archdiocese.
The Kampala Archdiocese is mourning the death of Rev. Fr. Charles Lwanga Ssewava, who has been serving at Kiwatule Parish.
According to a death announcement issued by the Office of the Chancellor on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Fr. Ssewava died that evening at Lubaga Hospital.
The announcement, signed by Fr. Pius Male Ssentumbwe, Chancellor of the Kampala Archdiocese, said the death had been announced with deep sorrow by Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere.
“Fr. Ssewava has passed away this evening on 23rd September 2026 at Lubaga Hospital,” the announcement stated.
The Archdiocese asked priests, religious and the faithful to pray for the eternal repose of Fr. Ssewava’s soul and to keep his family and the Kiwatule Parish community in their prayers.
The announcement said burial arrangements would be communicated later.
