Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ritah Kadasa has remanded retired army officer Captain Charles Byaruhanga to Luzira Prison over allegations of impersonation and fraudulently selling land belonging to the late Dr James Garuga.

Byaruhanga was charged with allegedly falsely claiming ownership of the land and forging its title in a scheme to sell the property.

The accused was remanded after appearing before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Kadasa ordered that Byaruhanga be returned to court on October 21 for further proceedings.

The magistrate also directed other suspects who had been summoned to appear in court to honour the summons, warning that those who fail to comply risk arrest.

Byaruhanga remains an accused person, and the allegations against him are yet to be proved in court.
