The development comes after Lugazi suffered a 2-1 defeat to SC Villa at Najjembe on Saturday, October 31, the same day Kyaggwe edged five-time champions Gomba 1-0 to lift the Masaza Cup at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Lugazi FC has terminated the contract of their fitness coach, Dennis Kizito, popularly known as Deman Denol, after he opted to attend the 2026 Masaza Cup final instead of travelling with the club for their Uganda Premier League match against SC Villa.
In a termination letter dated November 1, 2026, and signed by club Chief Executive Officer Sulait Abdul Swamadu, Lugazi FC accused Kizito of disregarding management’s guidance after requesting permission to participate in the Masaza Cup final held on October 31.
The club said it had communicated its position to the coach on October 30, stressing that the league encounter against SC Villa was a priority and required his commitment.
However, management said Kizito maintained his decision to honour the external engagement, which it considered inconsistent with his professional obligations to the club.
“Management considers this conduct a serious concern regarding professional discipline, respect for management decisions, and adherence to your contractual responsibilities,” the letter stated.
The club consequently announced that his contract had been terminated with effect from November 1, adding that he was no longer permitted to perform official duties, represent Lugazi FC or engage in any club-related activities without written authorisation from management.
Kizito was part of the Kyaggwe technical team headed by Ronald Ssali, which guided the county side to its maiden Masaza Cup triumph since the competition’s revival in 2004.
Kyaggwe’s historic victory was sealed by a late goal from substitute George Kato, sparking celebrations among supporters who had waited more than two decades to see their team lift the coveted trophy.
