Police Reveal Identity of Woman Murdered, Dumped on Northern Bypass
The slain Africa Oil Petrol Station Manager Agnes Nantongo who was last week brutally murdered by unknown thugs along Kampala Northern Bypass was on Tuesday laid to rest at her ancestral burial ground at Kasengejje in Wakiso district, amid many unanswered questions.
According to police, all efforts are being made, as is the tradition, to establish facts surrounding Nantongo’s murder, including identities of the assailants, reasons for her murder, and what she could have lost to the killers besides her mobile phone, if the mission was a pre-conceived act by robbers.

During the burial procession, the Operations Manager of African Oil Petrol Stations Wycliff Kiyingi told mourners that the footage so far retrieved indicated that when the deceased left the office, she did not board a taxi as she had always done, instead, she continued walking towards the Northern bypass.
He added however that available footage did not show the exact point where she was confronted by her assailants, where her body was found or whether anybody was following her probably with the intention of harming her. Nantongo’s body was recovered along the Northern bypass, on Saturday (September 28).
It is still a point of conjecture that she could have been hit with a paving block; and it is believed that she could have been on her way home though it is not established why she could have decided to walk instead of boarding a taxi as she normally did. She had worked with the petrol station since December 2023.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango told the nation that Nantongo’s lifeless body was retrieved on Sunday morning at Kamuli ‘A’ zone in Kireka, along the Northern Bypass.
The deceased’s boss Kagina confirmed at the burial that her known mobile phone had been taken, and that efforts were being made to establish the last communication she could Have had before her demise.
A family member who was grief stricken, described Nantongo’s death as a big blow to the family and friends, especially given that she Had many disadvantaged children she was caring for, and refuted allegations that she was jogging when she met her fate.
During burial , Anglican Church Archbishop, Stephen Kazimba Mugalu called on Ugandans to turn to God and discard all elements of malice and ill thoughts against fellow men, cautioning that if they do not, God would pay them back in the same measure.

The late Agnes Nantongo, the third born of ten children, was born on September, 1st, 1982, to the late David Kamulegeya and Deborah Nalwadda, of Kiwatule, a city suburb in Nakawa Division. She went to Shimoni Demonstration for her primary education, Kikyusa High School for her Ordinary Level, and Kiryagonja SDA for her Advanced level.
She later joined Kyambogo University where she pursued her bachelors in Adult Education.
However, she abandoned adult education and started her career at Mogus petrol station, Kiwatule branch and Africa Oils Petrol Stations Kawempe and Bweyogerere branches, respectively.
