Bodaboda Cyclist Nabbed For Knocking Police Officer on Duty

SP Ocaya Kennedy was on duty clearing the road for President Museveni’s motorcade, which was moving from Rwampara District to Mbarara City for his second campaign rally of the day.

A 27-year bodaboda rider in Mbarara City who is said to have deliberately knocked down a police officer on duty has been arrested and is to be charged with attempted murder.

Richard Agumaniiwe, a resident of Katojo Cell in Katojo Ward, Mbarara City South Division, is said to have knocked SP Ocaya Kennedy, the OC for Mbarara City South Division, on Monday at the Kikona-Ruti road junction along the Mbarara-Kabale Road.

SP Ocaya Kennedy was on duty clearing the road for President Museveni’s motorcade, which was moving from Rwampara District to Mbarara City for his second campaign rally of the day.

The suspect, who was riding a Yamaha motorcycle registration number UAC 177Z, was instructed to clear the road for the presidential convoy.

However, he allegedly ignored the directive, continued at high speed, and intentionally knocked SP Ocaya, injuring him.
