Body of Naalya SS Student Recovered in Mukono, Buried by Police in Kayunga

Naalya SS Head teacher, Ritah Mutaawe, in a way of exonerating the school, said the girl was handed to her father and expected her back on November 4, only to receive reports of her death.

The family of Melisa Aneza (15), formerly an S2 student of Naalya SS Lugazi Municipality in Buikwe district and daughter of Martin Anogyerire of Kanyanya-Kyebando in Kawempe Division and Sarah Kamuganga of Makerere-Kikoni in Kampala, has staked sh10m to whoever will give information leading to assailants who killed their daughter.

According to her mother, school management summoned them on October 28th 2025 after finding the deceased with a boy in suspicion raising circumstances, whereupon her dad proceeded to the school. She was given a one-week suspension to go for a counselling session with her parents. She was due to report back on November 4, 2025.

She went to her mother and after one week, she proceeded to his father who was due to take her back to school, but she never reached his home. When he could not see her, he rang his wife who informed him that she had left her home much earlier. They rang the school but were informed that she was not there.

A search was mounted and her body was recovered in a sand quarry at Ddundu village, Kyampisi sub-county in Mukono district; her body was discovered by villagers who found it dumped with a sock tied around her neck, and her eyes gouged out, dressed in a skirt and a bra.

 According to the mother Kamuganga, when they saw photos of the body of a school girl on social media and that on following up the matter, they discovered it was their daughter, but after police had buried her at Kayunga cemetery.

Three Teachers Probed For Absconding From Duty, Drunkenness

The LC 3 chairman for Kyampisi Jamil Yiga said he received a report of recovery of a dead girl’s body and rang police at Naggalama who collected the body and took it for burial.

Jinja Road Police OC CID Rashida Naluzze said they have written to court seeking authority to exhume the body for burial at her ancestral home.
