The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a sh10m reward for any information leading to the capture of Warder Anguyo Moses, the prime suspect in a tragic shooting at Kiboga Government Prison.

The brutal incident, which occurred on February 23, 2026, left four people dead, including three prison officers and a child.

In an official statement released on March 9, 2026, prisons spokesperson Frank Baine Mayanja confirmed that the reward would be given to anyone who provides credible information that leads to Moses’ arrest.

“The Commissioner General of the Uganda Prisons Service has put a bounty of sh10m as a reward to anyone who provides reliable information leading to the arrest of the murderer, Warder Anguyo Moses,” Baine said.

The horrific shooting spree unfolded when Moses allegedly opened fire on his colleagues at the Kiboga Government Prison, killing three people instantly: Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine, Principal Officer Bright Akishuri, and Sarah Ayebare, the wife of the prison’s Officer-in-Charge. The carnage was compounded when a toddler, who had been injured during the attack, succumbed to their wounds in the hospital, pushing the death toll to four.

Security agencies quickly launched an extensive search to apprehend Moses, who is believed to have fled the scene with a firearm. In response to the growing public concern, the Uganda Prisons Service has intensified its efforts, not only by announcing the cash reward but also by urging the public to assist in the ongoing manhunt. “All information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality,” Baine assured, while stressing the importance of community cooperation.

The prison spokesperson also warned that Moses remains dangerous and that anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts should contact security agencies immediately. Investigations are still underway to determine the motive behind the violent attack, and authorities are keeping a tight lid on any additional details to avoid compromising the ongoing inquiry.

The grisly shooting has shaken the local community, and the Uganda Prisons Service is hopeful that the public’s assistance will bring an end to the dangerous fugitive’s flight from justice.
