The newly named Archbishop of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) in Uganda, Pr. Samuel Kajoba (67), could at first not believe his ears when the news was broken to him. He has been the Bishop for Central Uganda Conference.
“I am also surprised. Many people walk with certain dreams in their lives but in all, the decision lies with God”. This is all he had for an answer when asked how he feels about being elevated to such a high office.
Kajoba replaces Dr. Moses Maka who was elevated to the office of the Secretary General of the East-Central Africa Division (ECD), and his elevation was announced on Tuesday in the Nairobi ECD conference.
In the same conference, Archbishops for ten African countries including Uganda, Burundi, DRC, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia, South Sudan and Tanzania were named.
He said that for the last eight years for which he has been Bishop, he is fondly attached to a bible writing in Timothy 1:12 on which he has relied for long in his ministry work, and that he is going to continue following it in his new office.
The Archbishop whose administration is to run for a period of five years, said the international church has laid down strategies to follow in ministry, and added that his prayer is that he manages to fall under the set programme.
He sat for his PLE in 1972 at Light and Grammar Primary School Katikamu, and sat for his O level in 1994 at Luzira Lakeside College. In 1997 he sat for his A level exams at Chwa II Memorial College and attained his bachelor’s degree in Theology at Bugema University in 2000.
He attained his masters degree (Master of Arts in Theology) in 2009 at the Adventist University of Africa (AUA) in Nairobi.
He served as a director for treasury and as a pastor at Najjanankumbi SDA church, Masuuliita SDA church and elsewhere. He has been the Director for Central Uganda since 2016. He has been a teacher at various SDA-run schools.
