The Chief Justice, Dr Flavian Zeija, has this morning departed Entebbe for Kalangala District ahead of the official launch of the Judiciary’s first motor boat, in a move aimed at improving access to justice for island communities.

Dr Zeija is accompanied by senior Judiciary officials, including the Principal Judge, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo; the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr Pius Bigirimana; and the Acting Chief Registrar, HW Pamella Lamunu Ocaya.

Also part of the delegation are several judges and members of senior management, highlighting the institutional significance of the initiative.

The motor boat, which will be officially launched in Kalangala, is expected to enhance judicial outreach and facilitate the movement of judicial officers across island districts. Officials say the development will help address long-standing challenges faced by residents in hard-to-reach areas, including limited access to court services and delays in case handling.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Judiciary to strengthen service delivery and ensure that justice is accessible to all Ugandans, regardless of geographical location.
