The President of Mothers Union Buganda Region, Josephine Kasaato has been assigned a big job as the Assistant Private Secretary in State House in charge of women’s affairs. She was appointed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and had by press time assumed work.

An Assistant Private Secretary for Women’s Affairs in the State House is assigned with responsibilities to manage administrative tasks, provide support to her supervisor in women-related initiatives, and coordinate with stakeholders to advance gender equality.

Other responsibilities include; managing her supervisor’s schedule, drafting correspondence, organizing meetings, maintaining records, and communicating with other government bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the public regarding women’s issues.

She is also responsible for collecting, reviewing and disseminating information related to women’s affairs and the State House’s initiatives.

Acting as a liaison officer with local governments, NGOs and other agencies to facilitate the implementation of programs and policies addressing women’s concerns is part of her responsibilities.

Before elevating to the position of President Mothers Union Buganda region, Kasaato was the President of Mothers Union for Namirembe diocese for a number of years.

She is a woman of hardcore Christian values, a freelance evangilist, a prayer worrier, a public speaker on matters related to family and business.

On Saturday, Kasaato began her duties in style when she represented her boss, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs, Moses Byaruhanga at Mukono at the launch of the Greater House Mukono Foundation (GHMF), an initiative aimed at promoting family values which brings together all religious denomination heads and their supporters.

She asked them to endeavour to register different groups of limited numbers through which they will start benefiting from government wealth creation and poverty alleviation projects like Emyooga and Parish Development Model (PDM).

“It’s high time we started forming groups composed of Born-again members and other faith-based groups which have over a time been abandoning those government projects. It would be easy for program supervisors to give out money to such groups with assurance that paying back the money will be automatic and easier following the Christian values of the members,” she asserted.

The function was also addressed by Mukono Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajat Fatuma Ndisaba Nabitaka, Tororo Circuit High Court Judge, Justice Henry Kaweesa, the GHMF vision bearer, Bp. Samuel Lwandasa, and a cross section of elderly people sitting on the forum’s executive.
