As parliamentary aspirants countrywide continue with the hectic search for votes in the forthcoming elections, Nakifuma County MP Fred Kaggwa Ssimbwa on Friday launched his campaigns for Kimenyedde sub-county, with a grand rally at Kawongo ground in Kawuku parish.
He set off from his home at Bamusuuta village, in the company of the traditional convoy of over ten commuter mini buses, jubilating motorcyclists who kept performing acrobatic jigs on their bikes along the way, with huge tree branches fixed on vehicles, signifying his election symbol under the Democratic Alliance (DF) party which is fielding him.

Ssimbwa opted to stand under the DF party after the National Unity Platform (NUP) which fielded him in the 2021 elections, denied him the party card and instead gave it to his major contender Kiwanuka Sulaiman.
Nakifuma county is one of the most hotly contested constituencies in Mukono district, with nine people seeking people’s mandate to represent them, come the January 15th 2026 elections.
Other contenders include NRM’s Eng. Robert Kafeero Ssekitoleko who was ejected by Ssimbwa in 2021, independent candidate Joseph Mugambe Kif’omusana who was himself beaten by Ssekitoleko two terms earlier, Basiima Zulia Nakapanka, Lubowa Michael Marvin and Mugoya Wasswa Joshua, all standing as independents, Kawombe Lameck standing on the Democratic Party (DP) card and Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Lumaama Abubaker Kayondo.

Introducing his manifesto contents to constituents, MP Ssimbwa blamed the sitting government for allegedly failing to address health issues in Nakifuma for the last 40 years, and urged voters to turn a blind eye to the NRM candidate in the forthcoming elections, arguing that he cannot fulfil what he has failed to fulfil for so long.
“For 40 years, this constituency never received an ambulance from the government until I came in and provided the sole ambulance in operation today; I promised to buy the ambulance in my first 100 days in parliament and I am on record for having fulfilled this promise in 90 days as a legislator,” Ssimbwa said.
He added that when he came into leadership, Nakifuma Health Centre III patients were sleeping on the floor and he provided five beds including three for delivery, and continued with his assistance to many other health centres in the constituency in a similar manner.

He also cited other health units that he bailed out including Kikube which he said had been ambushed by anthills and bats, and others he claims were more sickly than the patients who were seeking services from them.
