The Kabale Diocese has issued a warning to its faithful, advising against participating in an unverified village registration exercise allegedly authorized by Mrs. Peace Rugambwa, Senior Presidential Advisor.
According to the written by Rev. Fr. Christmas Philip Austin, the rector, Rushoroza Cathedral Parish in Kabale diocese, the exercise, which involves collecting NIN numbers, names, and contact details, has sparked concerns over its purpose, timing, and legality, particularly given its focus on Catholic-dominated areas.

Fr. Austin said that the Diocese reached out to Rugambwa, who confirmed the exercise, but no official clarification has been provided.
“As a result, the Diocese is directing its priests, catechists, and leaders to inform Christians not to participate in or support the exercise,” he said.
