Musoke stood his ground that he cannot be kicked out like a village chicken thief, and noted that he is being witch-hunted for his support of President Museveni and joining NRM politics which he said is not an offence.

The leadership wrangle at the apex traders’ body of Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) has developed a dramatic turn when the chairman, Thadius Musoke Nagenda, who was recently given marching orders for involvement in partisan politics, refused to budge and instead sacked the Secretary for the forum that sacked him, and discontinued all those he worked with to effect his sacking.

Musoke stood his ground that he cannot be kicked out like a village chicken thief, and noted that he is being witch-hunted for his support of President Museveni and joining NRM politics which he said is not an offence.

Musoke was sacked when he joined the Kampala Lord Mayorship race in the primaries level on grounds that because KACITA has a cross section of non-partisan members, his decision was in contravention of provisions of their constitution.

However, the Acting Chairman, Issa Ssekitto said their motive is to maintain the association that has existed for over twenty years, and to continue the struggle of keeping it on top among players for handling traders’ matters and bringing them together under one umbrella.

Ssekitto said it is unfortunate that Musoke is bent on tearing apart the association and swore that they are not going to accept this to happen. He pointed out that they followed regulations for whoever wants to stand for partisan politics to follow, including stepping aside, which he said Musoke declined to honour.

He watered down as empty talk, Musoke’s claims that he is being witch-hunted for supporting the NRM. On Wednesday, Musoke, who had been sacked, stormed the office and attempted to hold a meeting, but the team that sacked him locked him inside and it took the intervention of police to help him secure freedom.

Ssekitto approved the intervention by police to investigate their matter, but hastened to add that as traders who are known to each other, they are going to apply more amicable means to settling their grievances.
