Learners of Dreamland Junior School Jjoggo in Goma Division, Mukono Municipality have held an end-of-year activity day in which they exhibited what they had learnt within the course of the year.

The activity day was held under the theme “Spiritual Growth Through Reading” in which they made presentations including religious shows, Arabic recitations, reading the Holy Koran, Bible study pieces and recitations from the Holy Bible.

Highlights of the day included coronation of best religious performers titled ‘Christian Achiever’, ‘Islamic Tourist’ and ‘Muslim Achiever’, and learners who graduated from the ‘Yasalna’ to the Holy Koran stage were also commissioned.

Donations of items including washing soap, clothes, shoes and edibles provided by well-wishers and friends of the school were distributed to vulnerable people in the community.

Lay Reader Samuel Muwanguzi Bbosa appealed to parents and members of the community to open their fingers and give to needy people, noting that many people with the ability to help are too selfish to donate to the needy.

Muwanguzi said the Lord is not pleased with people to whom he gives wealth but they remain mean, and cautioned that this will attract the Creator to turn against them.

In an interview, the Headmistress and Director Hadijah Ssenabulya said that although the school was founded by Muslims, it is open to believers of other denominations, adding that all training facilities for Muslims and Christians are available in an equal measure.
