The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama has at last cleared National Unity Platform’s presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s nomination.
Justice Byabakama has also rescheduled Kyagulanyi’s nomination date from the party’s earlier communicated date, which was Tuesday to Wednesday afternoon at 2:00pm.

“I make reference to your communication to the Inspector General of Police and copied to the Commission, dated 17th September, 2025, indicating your candidate’s nomination date as 23rd September, 2025. EC had earlier communicated that only National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) presidential candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC), Nathan Nandala Mafabi were the only candidates ready for nomination.
The commission said that the rest of the over 30 presidential hopefuls had failed to meet the nomination requirements, among those, the supporters signatures backing them.
