Kabaka Mutebi Condemns Security Operatives’ Mistreatment of Political Candidates, Electorates
The chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Justice Simon Byabakama has disqualified another National Unity Platform (NUP) parliamentary candidate, Resty Sarah Kyarimpa.
Kyalimpa who has been vying for Isingiro Woman Member of Parliament has been disqualified for failure to fulfill the nomination requirements.
“Accordingly, the decision of the Returning Officer, Isingiro District, nominating Candidate Kyarimpa Resty Sarah is hereby reversed; and Candidate Kyarimpa Resty Sarah is disqualified from the General Parliamentary Elections, 2025, for the said elective office,” ruled Justice Byabakama.

After consideration of the written responses, evidence and submissions, the commission found out that Niwamanya Tadeo with NIN CM97062101×5LL, appears twice among the names and signatures of the ten registered voters supporting the Candidate Kyarimpa Resty Sarah.
“As a result, Candidate Kyarimpa Resty Sarah did not provide the minimum of ten persons registered in Isingiro District as required under Section 28(1) (c) of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Cap.177.”
Upon receiving this information, NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the Electoral Commission has continued to disqualify their candidates in several parts of the country in an “unfair” manner.
