The Police in Mukono Division are investigating circumstances under which a 60-year-old machine operator was knocked into factory premises leading to his death.
The deceased is identified as Deebat Rogers, a Mukiga by tribe and a machine operator at Polysack Factory located at Kigunga Cell in Goma Division, Mukono Municipality.
It is alleged that on September 8, 2025, at around 4:30pm, while on duty at the factory, the deceased was knocked by a forklift machine.
He was rushed to the factory clinic while in a severe condition and later transferred in a community ambulance, Reg. No. UBB 754B, heading to Kibuli Hospital, Kampala.
Unfortunately, it is alleged that on the way, as they approached Bweyogerere, his condition deteriorated further, and the driver diverted to Gwatiiro Hospital.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said the police have visited the crime scene and are yet to record statements from witnesses or obtain CCTV footage of the incident.
“We are also actively tracing the suspect who was allegedly driving the forklift at the time of the incident so as to aid our inquiries,” said Owoyesigyire. He urged the public to “avoid speculation, as police will actively investigate the cause of death.”
So far, Owoyesigyire said that “there is no evidence to suggest that the incident was intentional.”
“We want to convey our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Deebat Rogers during this difficult time.”
Owoyesigyire appealed to factories and workplaces to strengthen safety standards and prevent such tragedies in the future.
