Four fraudsters including a teacher have been netter for involvement in a plan to circulate fake examination papers to rural schools, purporting to be assisting schools put up a remarkable performance in the UACE examinations slated to begin on Monday.
The suspects include Hilary Asababyona and Lynette Tusuubira who were picked from Mbarara district, Leonard Kiyingi and John Mary Kateregga who were picked from Gomba district. Sources indicate that police and UNEB operatives variously tracked the four who have been using the internet to scam parents and teachers by convincing their victims that the papers they were circulating were genuine.
On arrest, they were taken to various police stations where they recorded statements, and later forwarded to UNEB headquarters at Kyambogo where they were grilled to disclose those with whom they have been working with in the racket.

It was further revealed that the group has also been selling what they have been claiming to be P7 and S6 examination papers, with their charges varying depending on which papers the teachers and parents wished to buy.
A section of the group conceded that a paper goes for sh2m, while P7 papers are sold at sh1m. The head of UNEB Dan Odongo cautioned all those planning to take part in the crime to think twice, warning that they will be arrested and prosecuted.
