The head of Namagunga Deanery in Lugazi Diocese Fr. John Chrysostom Sserwadda has advised Christians to execute matrimonial sacrament while still in tender ages instead of waiting when they are very old.

This was contained in his sermon in a mass during which he wedded four couples. It was organized to coincide with the Deanery Day, held at the deanery headquarters at Namagunga.

He praised the newly wed couples for making what he called a heroic decision, noting that holy matrimony is Godly and is the only type of marriage that ensures safety in a home; he appealed to couples still entangled in other forms of marriage to decide now and take the right step.

Turning to wives, Fr. Sserwadda advised them to desist from the temptation of checking their husbands’ mobile phones to find out who they communicated with, saying this is fraught with causing unrest in homes and sometimes culminating into serious domestic violence.

“You are under obligation to be subordinate to your husbands and always yield to their commands, or else risk getting undue blood pressure attacks by poking into their private businesses,” he warned.

Turning to husbands, the prelate cautioned them against being mean especially with their money, and pointed out that even when a wife is working, a husband is supposed to meet her financial demands.

Fr. Sserwadda warned unmarried Christians to endeavor to look for partners of their academic standards, to avoid being underrated and sidelined by their partners when they receive high calibre visitors in their homes.

He advised girls to discard the tendency of thinking that there are special partners waiting to marry them, and pointed out that all men are the same. He added, “You should stop the usual statement of ‘single but not searching’ because every single girl of marriage should be searching”.
