Without mincing words, Gen. Nalweyiso disclosed that she plans to approach the relevant authorities to influence tabling of a mission seeking to revise the presidential, parliamentary and local government leadership term from five to ten years, to cut down on the undue costs incurred by the state in organizing elections, reasoning that five years is just a wink of the eye.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Security Matters, Lt. Gen (rtd) Proscovia Nalweyiso has threatened to leave no stone unturned in the crack down on land grabbers masquerading as operatives of security agencies and State House agents in the next NRM’s five-year term of leadership.
“I will personally prevail on army, police and other security agencies heads, as well as advise the commander-in-chief (President Museveni), to declare a ‘kisanja hakuna-mchezo’ on crimes especially those related to land grabbing or in any way rendering poor bibanja owners homeless,” Nalweyiso asserted.
This was contained in her congratulatory message to President Mueveni, NRM supporters and the entire citizenry of Uganda upon the president’s landslide victory in the recently concluded general elections.

Kyaggwe TV on Monday chanced on the retired Lt. General at her home located at Ntaawo cell, Ntaawo ward in Mukono Municipality’s Central Division.
The 72-year-old former bush war combatant, asserted that unless she is retired from official duties, or somehow discontinued from service, the masqueraders’ days are numbered, adding, “I had developed a relaxed mood over land grabbing but on discovering that it is on the rise, I decided to renew my efforts this term”.

She noted that although the belated declaration of election results almost culminated into some scuffle, the anomaly was quickly contained and the situation returned to normal. She partly attributed the delay to break down of the voter verification gadgets which led to use of the rather time-consuming traditional method.
Nalweyiso watered down claims by the opposition that they had been diddled of their votes, and explained that there was no way the National Unity Platform (NUP) with no parliamentary candidates in some regions, could match with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) with a nationwide coverage of support.
She advised those who lost in the polls not to waste time in arguing and seeking court intervention, and instead get down to serious work, reminding them that the school year is opening soon, with schools demanding for school fees and other dues without consideration of who is in court or who was cheated of votes.

The chairperson of the NRM MPs parliamentary caucus, Robert Migadde Ndugwa who led a campaign throughout all the districts of Buganda where all government officials including Ministers, Attorney General, MPs and other relevant civil servants gathered to listen to the people’s challenges and advise solutions said he was happy that the initiative yielded positive results.
Migadde, a Member of Parliament representing Buvuma district said that apart from him retaining his seat, NRM also managed to oust National Unity Platform from the district when Judith Naggujja, the NRM flagbearer for Buvuma district woman MP managed to replace NUP’s Susan Mugabi Nakaziba.
“Though we had targeted to win at least 75 parliamentary slots from Buganda region, we managed to secure 60 MPs and four NRM leaning independent candidates,” he noted adding;

“We were also challenged in 2021 when President Museveni only registered 28% victory from Buganda region. We are however happy that the margin increased this time round to over 45%.”
Migadde who was on Monday joined by some of his supporters to celebrate his victory at Buvuma main island said his main mandate is to make sure that all the presidential pledges are fulfilled.
“For Buvuma, the president promised to connect us to hydro power grid, upgrade Buvuma Health Centre IV to a hospital status, compensate people who surrendered their land for palm oil growing, among others,” he said.
