In a shocking turn of events, the bodies of two 4-year-old boys, Kizito Deogratius and Odong Gabriel, were discovered in a burnt bush days after they went missing.
The children, who were neighbours and age-mates, had followed a stray cow and its calf on the night of February 6, 2026, and disappeared. A search by police and the local community ensued, but it was not until February 11, 2026, that their bodies were found in the burnt bush.
The Aswa West Police Public Relations Officer, David Ongom Mudong, confirmed the incident, saying the case has been registered under CRB/72/2026.
The incident occurred in Ongao Village, Gira-Gira Ipoka Parish, Guru-Guru sub-county, Amuru District.

According to police, the case was reported by Obalo George Lawrence (38), a peasant and resident of Ongao Village, whose child was among the deceased.
The victims include; Kizito Deogratius, alias Ayella, a 4-year-old boy and son of Obalo George Lawrence and Odong Gabriel, also 4 years old, son of Komakech Sunday, both residents of Ongao Village.
Preliminary findings indicate that on the night of February 6, 2026, at around 10:30pm, a cow and its calf belonging to Obalo George Lawrence reportedly strayed from home. Without their parents’ knowledge, the two children allegedly followed the animals using a rope.
The children are believed to have walked for a long distance, up to Aguny village-approximately 10 kilometres away-where they later disappeared.
A case of disappearance was reported at Guru-Guru Police Station, prompting a search by both police and the local community.
