Hundreds of National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters on Monday September 29, 2025 braved the massive security deployment to welcome the party presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu as he headed to Jinja to launch his 2026 presidential manifesto.

The massive crowd graced the launch of the NUP party presidential manifesto and campaigns held in Jinja City.

Kyagulanyi held his maiden rally at Busedde playground where he addressed the residents for over 10 minutes, thanking them for what he called commitment to change in the previous elections. He urged them to hold the same spirit as the country prepares for the 2026 general elections.

He promised to prioritize grassroots development, improve access to social services and uplift livelihoods across rural communities.

NUP Supporters Involved in Accident on Kyagulanyi’s Way to Jinja

At his main rally, Kyagulanyi promised free nursery and primary education, saying, “Not just education but quality education. There will be meals, uniforms and pads which will be entirely free.”

He said that the president will not be appointing members of the judiciary but there will be a Judiciary Appointments Commission which will be responsible.

“In the new Uganda, there will not be trial of civilians in military courts and  ALL political prisoners will be freed,” he said.
