The National Unity Platform’s (NUP) legal advisor, George Musisi has distanced himself from contesting against Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda.
After NUP’s principal, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s scuffle with the Police that left him injured in the leg at Bulindo village in Kira Municipality on his way from Musisi’s home for a thanksgiving function, there emerged a campaign poster out of the blue showing Musisi as the NUP’s flag bearer in the 2026 elections.
The poster has gone viral on different social media platforms but Musisi’s campaign team has refuted it, saying it is intended to divert his supporters from Mukono Municipality.

The team have accused Mukono Municipality legislator, Betty Nambooze Bakireke of being the brain behind Musisi’s poster portraying him as a candidate in Kira Municipality rather than Mukono, the constituency of his intended political aspiration.
Musisi also cleared the air about the allegations that Kyagulanyi confronted police on his way from attending a thanksgiving party saying that is also a false allegation.
“Kyagulanyi had come to my home to send his appreciation to my service as a party legal advisor. From the party’s inception, we have been only three lawyers who have stood by the party. After Anthony Wameli’s demise before Kyagulanyi appreciated him, he therefore decided to say thank you to me before it’s too late,” he said.
Musisi therefore lashed at long standing politicians in different electable positions to stop intimidating upcoming youths wishing to make an input in national development, and to desist from discouraging them.
He appealed to the ageing politicians who can no longer withstand campaign pressure to honorably step aside and give an opportunity to upcoming politicians to make their input in the national development, saying they are better positioned to plan for the future of the nation.
“For many times, we have heard elderly politicians making tarnishing and discouraging statements, including challenging all youthful politicians, but we think this is very wrong because it denies the latter opportunity to serve in their times, and we swear we are not going to accept this,” Musisi emphasized.
Musisi was addressing guests at a birthday party for a senior citizen Ms. Gertrude Katende at her home at Kawuga Cell in Mukono Central Division after clocking 60 years.
Turning to the youths, he urged them to turn a deaf ear to such selfish people especially ahead of the forthcoming general elections, and to only vote for upright and obedient people, ready to bend to the demands of the voters.
“In Mukono municipality, we have for long been treated to a lot of lip service and we feel this is now the time for us to get people who will demystify politics by showing that it is not drama, and our appeal to voters is to trust us and expect genuine changes,” Musisi said.
Addressing guests, Mukono Woman MP Hanifah Nabukeera appealed to opposition politicians to accept to step aside and respect election outcomes even if it means bowing out of office.

Nabukeera noted that threatening opponents out rightly undermines the basic principles of democracy for which they are striving as opposition leaders.
“All along, we in the opposition have been preaching the gospel of genuine democracy, and in the NUP, we do not have untouchables; if there are alternative choices, we should allow voters to exercise their power and our responsibility is to respect their decision without threatening anybody; I am openly declaring that I am ready to campaign alongside whoever wishes to replace me,” she said.
Gertrude Katende, the host, thanked God for the sixty years he has allowed her to exist, but expressed concern at the rising cases of youthful mothers who dump their newly born babies, saying it is a big danger to the nation.
