The State House Anti-corruption Unit along with Crime Investigating Department and the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution have today, October 16, 2025 arraigned, Mugerwa Ronald Ssaku, the Probation & Welfare Officer, Lugazi Municipality before Mukono Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of Obtaining Money by False Pretense and Conspiracy to Defraud. Mugerwa has been remanded until 21/10/2025.
The accused, between January and June 2025, in Mukono Town, allegedly conspired with Dr. Wataba Saadi, the Lugazi Municipal Medical Officer, and Ssekikubo Mubarak, the Nakisunga Sub-County chairperson, both currently at large to defraud a job applicant, Dr. Mukisa George William, of sh38m by falsely claiming they could secure him a government job as a Medical Officer in Mukono District.

The accused claimed that the said money was to facilitate members of Mukono District Service Commission to help him secure the Medical Officer position he had applied for. Criminal summons have been issued for Dr. Wataba Saadi.
On July 7, 2025, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) received a complaint from a whistleblower regarding alleged irregularities and corruption in recruitments by the Mukono District Service Commission (DSC).
It was reported that members of the Commission were soliciting and receiving bribes from job applicants for various positions.
