A parliamentary candidate for Mukono South constituency, Mubarak Ssekikubo has today been arrested, minutes after nomination.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Ssekikubo, the Nakisunga sub-county chairperson has today been arrested in Mukono when he was coming from his nomination.
His arrest follows a thorough investigation into allegations that he received money on behalf of the Mukono District Service Commission, acting as an agent, and extorted money from job applicants by promising them employment in Mukono District.

He may face charges related to anti-corruption violations, obtaining money under false pretenses, and impersonation.
Ssekikubo is charged together with Mugerwa Ronald Ssaku, the Probation & Welfare Officer Lugazi Municipality who was charged last week before Mukono Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of Obtaining Money by False Pretense and Conspiracy to Defraud.
Mugerwa, Ssekikubo and another accused on the same case, Dr. Saadi Wataba between January and June 2025, in Mukono Town, allegedly conspired to defraud a job applicant, Dr. Mukisa George William, of sh38m by falsely claiming they could secure him a government job as a Medical Officer in Mukono District.
The accused claimed that the said money was to facilitate members of Mukono District Service Commission to help him secure the Medical Officer position he had applied for.

On July 7, 2025, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) received a complaint from a whistleblower regarding alleged irregularities and corruption in recruitments by the Mukono District Service Commission (DSC). It was reported that members of the Commission were soliciting and receiving bribes from job applicants for various positions. Other cases where the same officials in connivance with some of the members of the Commission extorted money from job applicants are still under investigation.
