The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga has paid a condolence visit to the widow of former Namirembe Diocese bishop, the late Rt. Rev. Samuel Balagadde Ssekkadde who recently passed on in Kisubi Hospital after a short illness.
Mayiga visited the widow Allen Nakabiito Ssekkadde at her home at Bugonga in Entebbe, where he said the deceased executed a commendable job, and noted that his death was a great loss to the entire Christian community and the country at large.
Mayiga recalled that when he was jailed alongside the current Mukono Municipality MP, Betty Nambooze Bakireke and Busiro East MP Medard Lubega Sseggona, the late bishop prayed for them in a service that was led by Bishop Evans Mukasa Kisekka, when they were released from incarceration.
Busiro county chief, Charles Kiberu Kisiriiza expressed sadness saying that the late bishop was an ardent supporter of Buganda kingdom development programmes. Entebbe Archdeacon, Rev. Canon Gita Kavuma who welcomed the Katikkiro said the church lost a great man who had done a great deal in training church ministers.
Can. Gita also thanked Mengo leadership for standing with the church and the family at the loss of such a valuable personality.
The widow, Allen Ssekkadde thanked Katikkiro for having saved time from his busy schedule to go and pay them a courtesy call.
