The head of the electoral commission for the National Unity Platform (NUP) Mercy Walukamba has clarified that any member who decides to stand as an individual candidate after losing in the party primaries will have automatically forfeited his membership to the party.

“We are going to be as open as possible and this is the reason we are inviting the media in the entire process to show the public that we are committed to give voters the opportunity to hand the card to a person of their choice,” Walukamba said.

The party EC boss was addressing the media at a function where the ten NUP aspirants for the Kawempe North parliamentary seat were being vetted by the commission at the party headquarters at Makerere Kavule in Kampala.
