After his nomination by Uganda’s Independent Electoral Commission, Kyagulanyi reiterated his commitment to cause political change and improve governance across the country.
Thousands of National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters have gathered at Nateete, to attend the post nomination rally of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the party’s presidential candidate.
Though NUP had initially arranged to hold two post nomination rallies at Katwe and Nateete, Police terminated the one of Katwe and okayed the one at Nateete. Party supporters from different parts of the country thronged the rally.

Kyagulanyi was flanked by his wife, Barbie Itungo, the party top leaders including Secretary General David Lewis Lubongoya, Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi and hundreds of NUP parliamentary hopefuls.
After his nomination by Uganda’s Independent Electoral Commission, Kyagulanyi reiterated his commitment to cause political change and improve governance across the country.
“We are here to give Ugandans a real choice, to ensure accountability, and to champion service delivery that touches the lives of every citizen,” he said.
Eight presidential hopefuls had by close of business today finalized nomination formalities.
Mubarak Munyagwa of the Common Man’s Party joined candidates nominated earlier including Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and Nathan Nadala Mafabi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
Others are Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) leader, Rtd. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu, Elton Joseph Mabiriizi of the Conservative Party (CP), Robert Kasibante, of the National Peasants Party (NPP) and Frank Balira Kabinga of the Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP).
