Makerere University authorities have issued a stern warning to candidates in the 92nd Guild Presidential race against involving non-students in their campaign activities, as the institution moves to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

The caution was delivered during a candidates’ briefing held this afternoon and led by the Dean of Students, Dr. Winifred Kabumbuli. The meeting brought together all duly nominated contenders vying for the guild presidency.

Those in the race include; Atuha Cohen, Bulumba Timothy, Kadondi Gracious, Kyajja Peter Claver, Lubango Jimmy, Mbabazi Tracy, Mujuzi Mike Fulgensio, Nganga Mark, Nyaika Daniel, Serunkuma Timothy, Ssemanda Ashiraf, Tebakor Jimmy Prince, and Tumukunde Hannah Karema.

Dr. Kabumbuli emphasized that campaigns must remain strictly student-centered, warning that the involvement of outsiders would not be tolerated. She noted that such actions risk compromising fairness and could disrupt order during the electoral period.

Beyond the restriction on non-students, candidates were urged to adhere to broader campaign guidelines, including avoiding defacing walls and other candidates’ posters, as well as steering clear of hate speech, misinformation, and violence. They were also cautioned against organizing large processions and causing noise pollution on and around campus.

Chief Security Officer SP Kaheebwa Geoffrey also weighed in, commending candidates for the discipline exhibited so far but warning that authorities would remain vigilant. He reiterated that any campaign processions must be restricted to the Main Campus and should not interfere with traffic flow or business operations in surrounding areas.

With campaigns set to intensify, the university has signaled zero tolerance for violations—particularly the involvement of non-students—underscoring its commitment to a peaceful and orderly guild election.
