Shock as Missing Father’s Body is Found in Pit, Wife, Children Arrested
The Uganda Police Force has confirmed that senior Ugandan coach Mike Mutebi, who had been reported missing, has been found alive in Kisubi and is currently receiving medical treatment.
In a statement shared on the police’s official X account, authorities said Mutebi was recovered in Kisubi and immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention.
“Coach Mike Mutebi has been found in Kisubi and is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital, where health personnel are assessing his condition. We thank all those who came forward with information regarding his whereabouts,” the statement issued on Monday evening read.
Mutebi had reportedly gone to Kisubi Beach with a group of church members to attend a seminar. However, as the group prepared to travel back to Kampala, he disappeared.
His absence was only discovered when the group reached their destination in Kampala, prompting concern among colleagues and family members.
Efforts to trace him from Saturday proved unsuccessful until Monday, when a joint search involving community members and officers from the Uganda Police Force intensified the operation, eventually leading to his discovery in Kisubi.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports from family members indicate that Mutebi may be battling mental illness, although authorities have not officially verified the claim.
Police say further updates will be provided as investigations and medical assessments continue.
