Missing Masaka diocesan priest, Fr. Deusdedit Ssekabira who was abducted weeks back by UPDF soldiers from Masaka District early this month, has finally appeared before the Masaka magistrate’s court.
However, the presiding magistrate, Abdallah Kayiza, has remanded him until January 21, 2026, stating that his court lacks jurisdiction to hear the case.
Fr Ssekabira is accused of money laundering after he allegedly concealed sh500m, which the state claims he knew or suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Masaka diocesan bishop, Serverus Jjumba condemned the abduction of Fr. Ssekabira saying it had inflicted a grievous wound on Masaka Diocese, the entire Catholic Church, and Fr. Ssekabira’s family.
