MP Muwanga Kivumbi Arrested Over Political Violence in Butambala

Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, the Member of Parliament for Butambala County, has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

Kivumbi’s arrest is in connection with recent incidents of political violence in the area, according to Lydia Tumushabe, the Police Public Relations Officer for Katonga Police Region.

Kivumbi is expected to be arraigned before court soon. The police have not released further details about the specific allegations or the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

The MP’s detention has sparked interest in the ongoing political tensions in Butambala.

Muwanga Kivumbi has been a prominent figure in Ugandan politics, serving as the MP for Butambala County. He’s known for his vocal stance on various issues, including governance and human rights.

The recent incidents of political violence in Butambala which led to shooting to death of 10 people  from Kivumbi’s residence have led to tensions in the area. Kivumbi’s arrest is part of the police’s efforts to address these issues.
