The dead has been identified as Droma Vasco, a 52-year-old resident of State House in Entebbe while seven others were injured.

Seeta Accident Leads to Traffic Diversion

Police have confirmed that one person attached to State House died instantly this morning in an accident which occurred at Seeta in Mukono Municipality near Victory Church along Kampala-Jinja highway, while seven other unidentified victims who escaped with injuries were taken to Mukono General Hospital.

The unfortunate incident that occurred around 5:45am involved three vehicles including a bus registration number RAI 647B, two army trucks registered as number H4DF2468 and H4DF 1156, and a bulky concrete mixer.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the bus driver allegedly overlapped a queue of trucks, leading to a collision with the oncoming cement tank carrier and in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision, the tank carrier lost control and rammed into two army trucks coming from the opposite direction.

Police visited the scene, and the bus driver was arrested while the body of the deceased was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination. The injured victims were rushed to Mukono Hospital for treatment.

According to Onyango, the bus was parked at the Coca-cola police post pending inspection and investigations were by press time ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident. He suspected that dangerous driving by the bus driver could have led to the accident.
