A 47-year-old enforcement officer attached to Mukono Municipality, Francis Mpalanyi, is in critical condition after he was seriously injured during an operation to evict roadside vendors.

Mpalanyi, who has been part of the municipal team enforcing a crackdown on unauthorized businesses, was hurt while dismantling a structure in Gunga Village. The operation is part of ongoing efforts by authorities to restore order along streets occupied by informal traders.

According to eyewitnesses, the officer was pulling down a roof of one of the stalls when it suddenly collapsed, hitting him on the head. The impact left him with severe injuries, including deep wounds to the skull.

He was first rushed to Mukono General Hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to the gravity of his injuries, he was later referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
