“This time I have come for your votes and I must go to parliament in 2026; I am going to work with President Museveni”, she said and, in what seemed to be a method of taking stock of her numerical support, she asked those who will vote her to lift up their hands.
The Mukono District Woman MP aspirant, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer Margaret Nakavubu practically went down on her knees and, almost in tears, pleaded with members of the fishing community at Katosi to do her a favour and vote for her in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
The desperate sounding Nakavubu begged to know why time and again voters have been turning down her pleas to be assigned to represent them in parliament, although she said, she knows no sin she has ever committed to tickle their anger.

The daughter of fallen journalism trainer, Samuel Lukubira Bakubi, speaking with a lot of emphasis on each word coming out of her mouth, at one time said, “I know you better than the people you elect, why do you sideline me and select people from far away? I know your problems on the lake better than those people, but why do you torment me like that?, she inquired while down on her knees.
Nakavubu was over the weekend addressing Buvuma, Kkoome islanders and Katosi landing site fishing folks who gathered at Katosi UPDF FPU Barracks for a meeting where the UPDF Fishing Protection Unit (FPU) Commander, Lt. Col Mercy Tukahirwa was meeting members of the Association of Fishermen and Lake Users (AFALU) to register development of the fishing business since President Museveni lifted the fish ban slapped on them last year.

The meeting was attended by among other people, Mukono RDC Hajat Fatuma Ndisaba Nabitaka, Deputy RDC, Moses Muyambi, the UPDF sector commander, Capt. Frank Akandwanaho, Buvuma Assistant RDC Moses Buule Kizito, Mukono South MP NRM Flag bearer Kintu Taddeo, prominent community leaders and the fishermen.
“This time I have come for your votes and I must go to parliament in 2026; I am going to work with President Museveni”, she said and, in what seemed to be a method of taking stock of her numerical support, she asked those who will vote her to lift up their hands.

Nakavubu is making her third attempt to enter parliament after having been ejected in the polls by former MP Peace Kanyesigye Kusasira Mubiru, who was herself ejected by incumbent NUP’s Hanifah Nabukeera Luswata.
This time round, Kusasira lost the in house (primary) election to Nakavubu but she has since sworn to stand as an independent candidate.
