Musicians and other actors who popularize various government programs and President Museveni’s achievements through music shows have declared entry into the Kawempe North by-election to beef up NRM flag bearer Faridah Nambi.

The group under their umbrella, Museveni Awooma NRM artists combined members led by Emma Nsereko a.k.a Munamasaka declared the development at Achievers gardens in Busega with over 50 musicians and actors from different regions.

Nsereko who termed their entry as tsunami said that they will organize various concerts in the constituency where they will sing about various government achievements in the area and other areas for the voters to have an informed choice.

“NRM government has done a lot of things including poverty alleviation programs that range from Bonna Baggawale, Youth Livelihood program, UWEP, Emyooga, Parish Development Model (PDM) among others which have impacted members of the society, Kawempe North constituency inclusive. Unfortunately, if NRM members just sit back and leave the podium for the opposition to mudsling government, the ruling party will end up losing,” he said.

Nsereko, the composer of ‘Museveni awooma’ hit, asked residents in the area to eagerly wait for them this week as they plan to stage live concerts for the electorate to enjoy the music as they learn about various government programs.

The group manager, Ibrahim Musoga Nakabona said that after Kawempe, they will resume with their Museveni awooma mobilization trail in Busoga region before heading to other areas.

Musoga asserted that ever since they launched the campaign at Kololo last year, it has significantly changed people’s bad attitude towards the government as they started embracing its programs like PDM, Emyooga, among others to get money for development.

He however asked President Museveni, OWC coordinator, Gen. Salim Saleh and other government officials to appreciate these musicians who compose sensitization songs about its programs because they do it voluntarily without any financial boost.

Some of the local musicians who turned up from Kampala, Masaka, Busoga, Bugisu and other areas expressed readiness to sing for the NRM candidate for Kawempe North by-election campaigns and other areas in the coming general elections.

They added: “We are doing this voluntary service just because we have love for the government and President Museveni.”

Meanwhile the Busoga artists led by Aziz Bitoli hailed Nsereko and Musoga for the initiative stating that they have been abandoned and lacking platforms to perform their music to audiences.

In the Kawempe North by-election, NRM’s Hajat Faridah Nambi is battling with nine other contestants from other political parties and independents. The polling date set by the Electoral Commission for this by-election is March 13.
